How I Unwind After A Day At Work

Hello and thank you for reading my blog.

The cool down after work, is just as important as your warm up before.
Therefore I want to share with you what I do to unwind after a workday.

To do that I want to quickly share with you how my workday looks.

I arrive at work at 07.30. I pick up a sandwich (yes, we give out breakfast each morning.). At precisely 8 o’clock I call my team into a meeting and go through our goals for today and yesterdays top performances.

Until 17.00 we call our customers. I will coach salesmen and call my own customers. Calling about 150 customers/day.

The day is long and I am exhausted when the day is over.

At six o’clock I get home and can start to relax.
Me and my fiance will usually cook our dinner relaxing

We eat while watching TV, usually a TV-series, at the moment we are working through Stargate Atlantis.
After dinner we usually take the time to discuss our days.
Next we take care of the dishes and once again watch TV, sometimes with a glass of wine or a beer.
To really relax we take a bath together and than get prepared for bed.
We try to get to bed by 22.00.

For me this really works. Letting go of my job and not thinking about anything important for a few hours. Taking care of myself and my girlfriend is the most important.

Some evenings I will work out, staying in shape is a necessity, with a friend.

By finding this balance I feel that I can focus when I am at work and keep the pace every day.
If you don’t find this balance the risk is that you will burn yourself out.

  1. This was cool Daniel, as I always find the daily schedules of professionals/bloggers to be quite interesting. Personally, I exercise for 1 hour every night. I do this at night because I’m usually exausted by 9pm, so I then work out until 10pm, which gives me a 2nd wind and ability to go hard until 12am or later;-) …Good stuff man.

    Training is very important indeed. I try to work out about 2-3 times a week. If you don’t you will never have the stamina to continue working hard day in and day out.

    Tough of you though to work out so late. I usually fall into bed at about 10 pm ;-)

  3. Well, here is my tip for relaxing…I take a couple of strolls around the park with my husband and dog. It seems to help me unwind after a long hard day of work.
